Chelsea Clark has been a “gearhead” as long as he can remember. Chelsea grew up in nearby Bisbee and graduated from Bisbee High School. He then attended UTI (Universal Technical Institute) in Phoenix Arizona and earned an associate’s degree in Automotive Technology. He returned to Bisbee and worked for O’Rielly Chrysler, Plymouth Dodge, and Mazda as a technician.

By 1990 Chelsea had earned Master Tech status with ASE, Chrysler Corporation and Mazda Motors of America. In 1993 Chelsea married his high school sweetheart Tracey. Chelsea attended Cochise Community College majoring in Welding and Drafting Technology. Chelsea and Tracey moved to Phoenix in 1994 so he could complete his degree at ASU (Arizona State University). Chelsea graduated from ASU (Magna Cum Lade) in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology/Industrial Management. Chelsea and Tracey returned the Sierra Vista area and Chelsea began work as a Service Manager/Technician. With encouragement from family, friends, and clients Chelsea rounded up some talent and opened Desert Automotive in January 2010.

Chelsea’s interests include spending time with family, drag racing and working with anything mechanical. Chelsea’s other business interests include PSI (Performance Systems Incorporated) www.psisuperchargers.com. Chelsea enjoys traveling on weekends to drag races all over the country, to race, and represent PSI products.

Tracey Clark has her share of experience in the business world. Tracey owned and operated a beauty salon in Bisbee and gave that up when she and Chelsea moved to Phoenix in 1994. Tracey then went to work for Southwest Airlines while the couple resided in the Phoenix area. After the two moved back to Sierra Vista in 1997 Tracey joined Terry Pohl’s team at Globetrotter Travel, where she worked as a travel agent. Tracey joined the Desert Automotive team right from the beginning and she was kicking and screaming all the way. Tracey handles everything at Desert Automotive that requires details and a woman’s touch like decorating, bookkeeping, payroll administration, cleaning, etc, Tracey is best at keeping the Desert Automotive crew in line.

Gary has lived in this area for fifty years and has been in the local automotive scene for the past thirty. Gary graduated from Arizona Automotive Institute in 1981 and went to work as a technician here in town at Star Chevrolet. The first ten years of Gary’s automotive career were spent as a technician. Even though it has been over twenty years since he has earned his living spinning wrenches he is still a certified ASE Master Technician. The next ten years were spent in the service drive as a Service Advisor/Asst. Service Manager. The third decade was spent managing the parts departments of a few Sierra Vista Automotive dealerships. It was while managing one of these parts departments that Gary and Chelsea first worked together. The most recent assignment prior to joining Desert Automotive was as the Parts and Service Director of one the local dealerships. Over the years Gary has continuously achieved the top certification levels in both service and parts with several different manufacturers.

Gary, his wife Lisa, and both their sons are all graduates of Buena High School. During his time away from work he likes to spend time with his wife and family (when the boys are in town). On the weekend you may find Gary working in the yard, going to the bowling alley, golf course, races, casino or just hanging out with friends.
Gary is excited to be a part of the Desert Automotive Family where he can use his years of experience to take care of our customers.

Tom was born in  Springfield MA on “Christmas Day”; he moved to Sierra Vista at a young age and graduated from Buena High School. After graduating he worked in retail for several years before given the opportunity to work as a tire and lube technician. He then moved on to become a service advisor at a local shop before meeting Chelsea Clark. After a short period of getting to know Chelsea and crew he quickly knew that Desert Automotive would become his home away from home!  When Tom is not working as a Service Advisor, he is busy tinkering with his vehicles and spending time with his wife and children.

Camille was born and raised here in Sierra Vista. He has seen the city grow and change throughout the decades. It is here that he met his wife, married since 2012, and now where they’re raising their two children. He has provided exceptional customer service to the community for over 10 years. He has always had an interest in the automotive world and is excited to combine his passion for cars and the dedication he has had in serving the community. Camille joined the Desert automotive team as a service advisor in February 2021.

Toni has lived in the Sierra Vista area for 21 years. She met Tracey right away as they were co-workers at a local Travel Agency and immediately became great friends. She then worked as a government contractor on Fort Huachuca for 15 years in Finance/Budget. She is a huge football fan “GO CHIEFS”, and loves spending time with her family out camping and boating. Toni joined the Desert Automotive team as the office assistant in April 2020.

Daniel began his automotive career washing cars at a new car dealership. Since then, Daniel has grown into a well rounded ASE Certified Technician. Daniel attended Cochise Community College majoring in Automotive Technology. Daniel married his wife Maddie  October, 2015 and their son (CAN YOU SAY ADORABLE!?!?) Adam has joined their family. Daniel is a man of few words and he is the guy “always working.” Daniel gladly helps everyone and he is the one the Desert Automotive team would like to clone, he knows no fear and successfully tackles every job thrown at him. Daniel is also an original member of the Desert Automotive team. In his spare time, he enjoys working on his cars and racing at local SCCA events.  However, his top priority is always his family!

Kenny started his career path toward becoming an automobile technician, when he was about seven years old. His father was the owner of an auto body and mechanical repair shop in Chicago, Illinois. It was a family business, with one of his brothers performing body work and another brother specializing in mechanical repairs. Kenny believes he owes his father and brothers for the man he is today. Kenny learned many problem solving techniques from them at a young age. As an adult, he moved to Arizona after deciding it was time to make some changes. His sister was living in Sierra Vista and Kenny thought he may enjoy the area as well; Kenny has been a resident of Arizona ever since. He has left this area a couple times but has gravitated back to Sierra Vista. Prior to becoming part of the Desert Automotive team, Kenny worked thirteen years at a local family owned repair shop.

Kenny now calls Desert Automotive home! He likes the fact that he has a clean, well run shop to work in and says, "The owners and his coworkers are the best of the best and  he is proud to be here." Kenny vows to repair your vehicle correctly the first time, because the old saying is, “You’re only as good as your last job”; something his dad told him many years ago. Over the years Kenny has trained for the repair of brakes, driveability concerns, engine repair, heating and air conditioning; while he finds the training invaluable, he believes there is nothing like "hands on experience." Kenny would like to send out a personal "Thank You” to our regular customers for their support.

Mark was "borrowed" from the local Toyota Dealership in 2014 and was never allowed to return! Mark has worked in several shops and dealerships throughout his career. When he first joined the team, he requested to "only work on Asian imports". After 2 - 3 days at work, Mark's other talents were recognized and he now works on all of the motor homes and many of the HD vehicles that come through the door. Every now and then we "throw Mark a bone" and dispatch him a Toyota or two, just so he doesn't lose his touch. Mark is also ASE certified holding Master Status, ASE L-1 and Toyota Master Certified.

George started working on cars as a kid. George’s automobile career began at the age of twelve helping an engine builder in Southern California. George graduated from Bisbee High School in 1993, he then attended Universal Technical Institute. In 2003 George achieved Mitsubishi Diamond Pro Certification status (Mitsubishi’s highest level technician). In addition he has several General Motors accreditation's and is a certified welder. George married Sadie Maestas, who is a registered nurse and surgery manager at the Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee. In his spare time George enjoys spending time with family, working on hot rods with his sons, welding, hunting, walking the dogs and generally anything outdoors.

Chris got his love of cars at an early age by watching his father and uncle work on their cars and boats, and would hand them the tools as they asked for them. His family moved to Arizona when he was 10 years old, he then helped his father with repairs on family equipment and vehicles. In high school he was a member of the D.C.E program where he worked part time as an auto parts clerk. Chris has worked at various locations around town to include Sears becoming their only full-time mechanic. After a tragic house fire he moved to Kentucky where he worked for 19 years at the world’s largest Midas and became an ASE Certified Master Technician with L1 and Service Consultant additions. During that time he married Carrie,” his high school sweetheart”.  When not at work he enjoys spending time with his family. Chris moved back to the Sierra Vista area and joined the Desert Automotive team in April 2019.

David served in the United States Army for 5 years as a Tank and Heavy Wheel Mechanic.  He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 21 years prior to working on cars. He is happily married to Karen and has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. When David is not at the shop working he loves spending time with his family!

Rene first started his path into automotive repair back in high school, from jimmy-rigging his best friends hooptie to present, he has over 17 years of experience along with advanced college courses. Rene is very dedicated and has impeccable attention to detail in all aspects of his work. When he is not conquering Desert’s mission he enjoys being a part of race teams, hunting and spending time with his family. He is quite proud of his two sons who volunteer after school to help around the shop!
